We have an opportunity for a Deputy CFO / Controller

Client: Our client is the largest agricultural-commodity supply chain company in East and Southern Africa. The Company originates (buys) crops at farm gate “up country” in 25 African countries, aggregates and processes them in a network of proprietary facilities, and exports them internationally. Using this infrastructure in reverse, the Company imports fertilizer and rice, breaks bulk and processes them, and distributes them to smallholders. They’ve been in business since 1967, and the Company’s projected turnover in the year to March 2012 is approximately $1.1 billion.

We are looking for a Chartered Accountant with at least 8-10 years of post-articles experience in audit and/or financial controller roles. Clear track record of professional development, and leadership experience in controller function is a must. Financial management experience with multinational corporations, in both developed and emerging (African) markets is also a must.

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Salary: Very competitive base + Target cash bonus + Accommodation allowance

Job Specifications
-The Deputy CFO/Controller will be responsible for strengthening the financial controls and providing effective monitoring of the business on a continuous basis.
-The Deputy CFO/Controller will work in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and report to the Chief Financial Officer.

Primary responsibilities
- Provide high standards of financial control, and ensure effective management of working capital and a strong sense of disciplined financial direction
- Keep the management team continually aware of the financial state of the various operations and give advance warning of any situation which might require corrective action
- Lead the analysis of Company financial and operating results (monthly, quarterly, and annually) and development of daily and weekly indicators for use by senior management
- Support the statutory audit and tax processes, liaising with outside accountants and advisors
- Support the development of financial objectives, budgets and strategic plans. Ensure that challenging budgets for profits, cash flow and capital expenditure are agreed and achieved
- Exercise firm control over capital expenditure. Keep management fully informed of all local and international transactions, particularly with regard to loans, credit facilities, exchange fluctuations, currency exposure and movement of funds
- Through appropriate hiring and management, ensure that the Company's financial and administrative functions are staffed with capable individuals

Experience & Training
- Chartered Accountant with at least 8-10 years of post-articles experience in audit and/or financial controller roles. Clear track record of professional development, and leadership experience in controller function.
- Financial management experience with multinational corporations, in both developed and emerging (preferably African) markets
- Deep understanding of world-class financial controls and systems in a multi-national corporate environment
- Computer skills, particularly relating to accounting software and ERP systems
